Saturday, Sept. 23, DDA Classic Airlines at Lelystad Airport welcomed over 150 Friends to Aviodrome. Through a nice gesture by Aviodrome, admission to the Museum was free for DDA Friends that day.

Our royal PBA came to Lelystad for the occasion and the planned sightseeing flight attracted much interest from the museum audience.

Program

In the afternoon, Mariëtte Künze welcomed everyone to the Uiver Room and introduced the speakers.

Our president, Feije Jaski, gave a brief review of 2022, highlighting the question marks for 2023. Fortunately, the response from the market was positive and managed to publish a program for the entire flying season. As we close the season at the end of October, we have had a great year with lots of flights, lots of passengers and record revenue. He thanked all the DDA Friends for their support over the past year.

Our Accountable Manager, Leo van Rijn, presented the factors involved in operations and technology. At the heart of everything we do is safety. In the technical sense, our old lady has behaved fantastically over the past few months: she is in excellent condition.

As the third speaker, Eduard Klap, Flight Operation Manager, presented the DC-3 pilot training program. He shared with his audience some of his experiences in recent years with beautiful images from the cockpit.

Finally, a short film was shown about the C-47’s function as a transport aircraft for paratroopers. Interspersed with footage from 1944, a number of Marines jumped from the C-47 over Normandy during the 75th anniversary commemoration of Operation Overlord.

Afterwards, our PBA could be admired in all its glory on the platform and drinks could be enjoyed in the foyer.

All in all, a very successful afternoon with thanks to all who participated.
