Maintenance
The maintenance is carried out, under the supervision of Hangar One, by experienced and certified volunteers of DDA in accordance with the current regulations and instructions of the Inspectorate of Environment & Transport (IL&T) of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment.
The DDA team of enthusiastic technicians manages to keep this gem of the past, the Grand Old Lady as our DC-3 is affectionately called, in airworthy condition, allowing it to be flown between 100 and 150 hours annually. There are sightseeing flights organized almost every weekend during the months of April through October.
In the winter of 2016/2017, the PBA was subjected to an E-inspection. This is the largest inspection known and it should be done every six years. In addition to the ‘pre-flight’ check required for each flight, the A, B and C inspections are also carried out in the hangar. These last 3 days, 14 days and 6 weeks respectively and are carried out on a tight schedule.
Technicians with aviation experience are always welcome at the DDA to join our team of volunteers. For the various inspections and pre-flights, as well as for the handling, enthusiastic people are very welcome.
If you are enthusiastic and interested in our activities and would like to participate in them, please contact the secretariat or send an e-mail.
