In April, the Royal DC-3 Dakota “Princess Amalia” will start sightseeing flights again on weekends. Through the financial help of a number of supporters and enthusiasts of the Dakota, the PB-PBA will take to the skies for at least the first three months of the flying season.
During the winter months the periodic major maintenance took place and our PBA is all ready for the flying season. Training for pilots and cabin crew will follow in March, and sightseeing flights will begin in April.
We start with the renowned bulb flights. The bright colours of blooming bulb fields in spring are world-famous as a typical Dutch sight. And what could be better than viewing that breathtaking display of color from the air. Other popular sightseeing flights such as over the Dutch coast, the Muiderslot and Zaanse Schans, Zandvoort and Amsterdam depart every weekend from the Jet Center at Schiphol-East.
At the end of April, we are going to Rotterdam and Maastricht for a weekend. You can then not only book a sightseeing flight, but also join us from Schiphol Airport for the weekend and make it a special weekend getaway.
In May, PBA will fly to Lelystad, Groningen and Weeze (Germany). After last year’s successful D-Day visit to Caen, tours such as The Beaches and Band of Brothers are scheduled again in early June.

For the first time in many years, we plan a flight to England in June and visit the Duxford Summer Airshow. Landing and starting passengers is unfortunately not possible at Duxford, but can be done at Cambridge. That’s only fifteen minutes away. The program is still being worked out and everything is of course subject to approval by the UK aviation authority.
We will have to wait and see how costs and revenues develop, but hopefully we will be able to continue the operation and justify filling out the program for the second half of the flying season in the spring.
Hope to see you on one of our sightseeing flights.
Book a flight immediately and board the iconic DC-3.
